Back in the 1880's, Conrad Langaard Tobaksfabrik wanted to expand into the new field of manufacturing cigarettes. D'ENTRE'ACTE was probably the first attempt in 1880. Soon they realised that the new and chic cigarette smoking could be a big thing in the future. Needed now was a manufacturing department and skilled workers. An expert, MORITZ GLOTT, born in Kiev, Ukraina, was offered the job as head of the upcoming cigarette division. From 1885, handrolled brands like LINDA and ROSA HABANERA paved the way for Langaard and Moritz Glott.

In 1894 Moritz Glott became Norwegian citizen, and in 1895 he established M. GLOTT's TOBAKFABRIK in Toldbodgaten 24 in Christiania (Oslo). In 1898 they moved to Storgaten 28, in 1902 to Storgaten 24, and finally in 1915 to Torvgaten 33. The speciality of Moritz Glott was obvious cigarettes, and brands like AKABA, ANITRA, BLACK PRINCE, DEMONT, GENTLEMAN, HOLLYWOOD, KNOCK-OUT, MANHATTAN, MARMARA, RED WING, ROMA, SALOME, SIMBA, SPEED, TEXAS - just to mention a few - become household names among smokers.

Let's go back to the year 1921 and take a look at some photos from M. Glott's Tobakfabrik:
